The air fryer is super awesome because it gives you the consistency and texture of fried food, with that crispy crunch we all love and find so satisfying, but without all the extra oil. It uses air and convection technology to circulate that air and evaporate the moisture off the exterior of your food to give it a crispy crunch. How do you make sweet potato fries crispy? Fry size: that 1 centimeter square size is great for fries, and great for getting a crispy exterior and the fries cooked through. Oil: I like to use just enough oil to give the exterior of the food a light coating, but not so much that you have oil in the bottom of your bowl. The oil helps with the frying, but it also helps the seasoning stick to the fries. You can make the sweet potato fries without oil, but they won’t be as crispy.
Space: In the air fryer, the fries won’t get crispy unless air can flow around them. The technology it uses to get that fried by air texture requires air flow. So, that is the down side, it will take a while or several batches if you are cooking for a crowd. But trust me, it is worth it to get that satisfying crisp exterior. Time: In my air fryer it takes between 8-10 minutes to get a crispy exterior, depending on how exact I was in my cutting.
Flip half way through: Even though one of the perks of an air fryer is you don’t have to flip food to get it crispy, it does help with even cooking. Amazon Air Fryer options are aplenty, so go!
